2800 new teachers appointed in Sri Lanka

Apr 20, Colombo: Sri Lanka Ministry of Education plans to grant appointments to 2,800 new school teachers from the beginning of the next school term.

All schools in the country except Muslim schools are to be opened for the second term on April 25. Muslim schools were opened on April 18.

Most of the newly appointed teachers are to be placed in national schools island wide.

They are qualified to teach Sinhala, science, mathematics, English, physical education, and primary curriculum.

The new teachers are graduates of the College of Education following a three-year training program including one year internship.
