A sports complex for peace building in Sri Lanka with the contribution of the cricket legends

Mar 24, Colombo: The Sri Lankan government announced today that a new sports complex will be constructed near Mankulum in the former rebel-held area as a joint project of Sri Lanka-based Foundation of Goodness and the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation charities.

The sports complex is meant to facilitate sport to be used as help to regenerate the communities and encourage reconciliation in the area.

Laureus World Sports Academy Member and England cricket legend Sir Ian Botham will announce the project at a press briefing to be held on March 27 at Taj Samudra Hotel, in Colombo.

Sri Lankan cricket greats Muttiah Muralitharan, Chaminda Vaas and Kumar Sangakkara are to join hands with Botham for the project.
