Agriculture Faculty of Sri Lanka’s Jaffna University to be established in Kilinochchi

Feb 03, Colombo: Sri Lanka University Grants Commission plans to establish the Agriculture Faculty of the University of Jaffna in Kilinochchi.

The Faculty is currently operated from a temporary building belonged to the Medical Faculty and therefore, doesn’t see any development, according university officials.

University Grants Commission Chairman Prof. Gamini Samaranayake says that the Agriculture Faculty of Jaffna University will be established in a 300-acre land in Kilinochchi that was earlier used by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) rebels.

The University Grant Commission, Ministry of Higher Education and Jaffna University has granted approval for the move.

The construction of the buildings of the Agriculture Faculty is to be completed by 2013.
