May 31, Colombo: The deputy Minister of Ministry of Finance and Planning Geethanjana Gunawardena today presented the Ministry’s 2010 Annual Report to President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Ministry Auditorium.
During the presentation Secretary to the Ministry Dr. P.B. Jayasundara said that despite the global economic crisis in 2009 the economic growth of Sri Lanka remained positive.
Sri Lanka has now moved away from the status of under-developed country categorized before 2005 into a middle income country, he said. Government’s investment has increased in 5.5 percent after 2005, the Secretary revealed.
The report has also been presented to the senior Minister of International Finance Co-operation Dr. Sarath Amunugama and Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa as well.
Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga was also present at the occasion.
