Canada to spend $ 11 million to relocate its diplomatic mission in Colombo

Jan 11, Colombo: The government of Canada is seeking to relocate its High Commission in Colombo to a new spacious location in the city at an estimated cost of 11 million Canadian dollars.

The Foreign Affairs department of Canadian government has sent out a request on December 27 seeking proposals from firms with relevant professional experience in Colombo to relocate its existing Colombo Chancery on 5th Lane in Colpetty to approximately (3500m ) usable square meters at 6 Gregeory’s Road in Colombo7.

The design work for the new premises is expected to commence in April 2012 and the scheduled construction will start in June 2013.

The project is expected to be completed by 03 June 2015 or earlier, with an occupancy date of 09 July 2015.

A Request for Proposal (RFP) issued by the Foreign Affairs and International Trade Ministry of Canada says the individuals assigned this project shall hold appropriate professional certifications and shall have the relevant professional experience and be fully licensed to practice in Colombo, Sri Lanka and Canada.

The scope of work consists of providing architectural engineering services for the fit-up of the new Chancery.
