Eight sports officials of Sri Lanka banned for two years

May 14, Colombo: Sri Lanka Ministry of Sports has banned eight ex-officials of national sports associations from holding administrative positions of any of Sri Lanka’s sports bodies for two years.

The Ministry came to this decision following a disciplinary investigation conducted by a committee appointed by the Minister of Sports Mahindananda Aluthgamage.

The eight officials have held positions in Boxing, Squash, Karate and Badminton national associations. They were accused of corruption and anti-disciplinary actions.

The Minister has suspended administrations of eight sports associations and has launched probes on the allegations of the member clubs.
