Police today (01) seized fake currency notes from a soldier attached to the Beragala Army Camp in Kegalle.
These fakes of Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 1,000 denominations, had a face value of around Rs. 2.7 million.
The suspect has given an order, through a letter purportedly by the commanding officer of the 583 brigade, to a printing press at Karandupokuna in Kegalle to print more fake notes with a face value of Rs. 9 million.
The letter claimed the CO wanted the fake notes to conduct a raid.
