France to provide 22 million euros assistance to develop Sri Lanka’s roads

Dec 09, Colombo: The Government of France has agreed to provide 22 million euros to Sri Lanka for the reconstruction of 46 bridges on the National Road Network, the government announced.

Sri Lanka’s cabinet Wednesday has approved a proposal submitted by President Mahinda Rajapaksa in his capacity as the Minister of Highways to enter into a loan agreement with the French government.

The bridges to be renovated have been selected from Western, Southern, Uva, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and North Western Provinces on priority basis, the government said.
