Jan 24, Colombo: The former South African coach Graham Ford has been confirmed as the coach of Sri Lanka’s national cricket team , local media reported quoting Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) sources.
Ford will be replacing the former Australian batsman Geoff Marsh just four months after he was appointed to the job for two years in September 2011. Marsh was in charge of the tours against Pakistan and South Africa.
Ford has resigned from his head coach position with the Durban-based Dolphins earlier this week expressing desire to coach at an international level.
In 2007, Ford was offered the position to coach the Indian team but he turned it down.
Reportedly Ford has met with SLC officials earlier today to finalize his contract.
On Monday, Tillakaratne Dilshan has resigned from the captaincy of the Sri Lanka cricket team in all formats and selectors appointed Mahela Jayawardena as the captain to lead the upcoming ODI series against India and Australia next month.
