Hilton Colombo in Sri Lanka and owners up in arms against Hilton Worldwide

Nov 09, Colombo: Hilton Colombo Hotel in Sri Lanka and its owners, Hotel Developers (Lanka) PLC (HDL), are at loggerheads with Hilton Worldwide due to the latter’s failure to fully represent Hilton Colombo at the World Travel Market 2011 in London.

The World Travel Mart commenced in London on November 7 and is to end tomorrow (10).

A statement released by Hilton says that Hilton Worldwide (formerly Hilton International), the managers of the Hilton Colombo who have a management contract for the Hotel have however ensured that the Hilton Colombo Residency (formerly the JAIC Hilton) are represented in London for an annual event.

All other popular hotels in the country are being represented at the World Travel Mart.

The Sri Lankan government holds the majority shares of HDL, which owns Hilton Colombo and HDL has expressed disappointment that their property is not represented.
