Injured legislator of Sri Lanka’s ruling party transferred to the neurosurgical unit

Oct 19, Colombo: Sri Lanka’s governing United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) parliamentarian Duminda Silva who has been treated for gunshot injuries to the head at the ICU of the Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital since the 8th has now been transferred to the neurosurgical unit as his condition is improving.

Director of the Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital, Dr. S.A.K. Gamage has said the MP is now being given liquid proteins for consumption. All life support machines attached to Silva have now been removed, he said.

Dr. Gamage has noted that the parliamentarian also gained consciousness from time to time.

According to the doctor, although there is another surgery that needs to be performed on Silva, the doctors have decided that there was no hurry to perform the surgery.
