Injured Sri Lankan MP is still on life support and ventilator

Oct 12, Colombo: Sri Lankan parliamentarian critically injured in a gun battle on the election day, October 08, is still on a on a ventilator and life support machine, the Director of Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital, Dr. Sachendra Gamage said Wednesday.

Medical Specialists treating MP Duminda Silva at the Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital took another CT scan on the brain this morning to monitor his progress, Dr. Gamage has told the national news agency Lankapuwath.

MP Silva who underwent surgery to remove bullet fragments from his brain on last Saturday, remains unresponsive on a life support system.

Dr. Gamage has said that specialists are closely monitoring the brain activity of Silva and constantly watching for any progress in his conditions. However, they say the 36-year-old legislator will be in the hospital for months.
