Japan to assist Sri Lanka to reinforce transmission network in northern Sri Lanka

Apr 01, Colombo: Sri Lanka is to enter into a Loan Agreement with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JlCA) for a project that will ensure reliable, adequate and efficient electricity supply to consumers in the Northern Province.

The project is already underway to reinforce the transmission network in the northern area by constructing a 132 KV transmission line from Vavuniya to Kilinochchi. A Grid Substation is also to be established at Kilinochchi.

Japanese Government has agreed to provide a loan of Japanese Yen 1.422 billion (approximately Rs.l.891 billion). The cabinet of ministers granted approval for the agreement.
