Japanese Ambassador bids farewell to Sri Lanka

Oct 06, Colombo: The Ambassador of Japan in Sri Lanka Kunio Takahashi who is finishing his term in Sri Lanka paid a farewell call to President Mahinda Rajapaksa today (06) at the Temple Trees. Takahashi has been appointed as Japan’s ambassador to Nepal.


During his tenure as Ambassador since April 2009, the bilateral relations between the two countries have steadily improved and Japan has become a strong supporter of Sri Lanka politically as well as economically contributing US$ 413 million in the first four months of 2011 alone.

Takahashi is the twentieth Japanese Ambassador in Sri Lanka since diplomatic relations was established in 1952.
