Many name boards erroneous, says Sri Lankan Minister

Apr 04, Colombo: Sri Lanka’s Official Languages Department has initiated a new programme of providing translations and texts for the name boards of public property.

The Minister of National Languages and Social Integration Vasudeva Nanayakkara says that a number of name boards of public property bear wrong translations and texts.

He also criticized the name boards that bear English only causing inconvenience to the public.

The Ministry requests from all public institutes to have their name boards in all three official languages, especially focusing on Sinhala and Tamil languages.
