New Sri Lanka External Affairs Ministry Secretary assumes duties today

Mar 28, Colombo: Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to China, Karunatilaka Amunugama has been appointed as the new Secretary to the External Affairs Ministry.

Amunugama is to assume duties in his new post today (28).

A veteran of the Sri Lankan Foreign Service, Ambassador Amunugama has served widely in Asia, including as Second Secretary in Cairo, Counselor to the Sri Lanka High Commission in Singapore, and as Ambassador to Thailand and Japan before coming to China.

Former External Affairs Ministry Secretary Romesh Jayasinghe is reportedly tipped to be appointed to a position in the Presidential Secretariat.
