Aug 23, Colombo: Sri Lanka Road Development Authority sources say that the opening of the country’s first expressway will be delayed further.
The sources said the postponement is due to the delay in the construction of buildings in rest areas and the fuel stations along the expressway.
Accordingly, the opening is likely to be delayed by about three weeks.
Earlier, the government planned to open the expressway in the first week of September.
Sri Lanka President is to ceremonially unveil a commemorative monument in Galle district to declare open the expressway.
