Over 2,500 new teachers to be appointed to Sri Lanka schools

May 21, Colombo: Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa will ceremonially hand over the appointment letters of 2,524 new teachers graduated from National Colleges of Education.

The new teachers who have successfully completed a three-year training program will be appointed to national and provincial schools, Education Ministry sources say.

The ceremony of handing over the appointment letters will take place at the Temple Trees on Tuesday, May 24, 10 am.

The Secretary of the Ministry of Education H. M. Gunasekara said that the steps to recruit 3,174 aesthetic teachers would begin next week. The cabinet has granted approval in this regard, the official said.
