Apr 24, Colombo: A parliamentary delegation of Balochistan Provincial Assembly of Pakistan, headed by Speaker Jan Muhammad Khan Jamali will be arriving in Colombo today on a four-day visit.
The visit from April 24-28 aims at further strengthening Pakistan – Sri Lanka bilateral parliamentary relations and exploring ways to enhance bilateral ties between the two friendly countries in regional and global context, the Pakistani High Commission said in a release.
During his visit, Speaker Jamali is scheduled to call on the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa. He will also meet the Speaker of Sri Lanka parliament Chamal Rajapaksa and will also observe the proceedings of the Sri Lankan Parliament.
The Speaker will meet the members of Sri Lanka Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Association in the Parliament and will attend a luncheon hosted by the Sri Lankan Speaker.
Mir Jan Mohammad Jamali is a prominent politician of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz), hailing from Jaffarabad, Balochistan. He was first elected as a member of Provincial Assembly of Balochistan in 1988. In his political career, Speaker Jamali has held several important position such as Deputy Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Chief Minister Balochistan and Provincial Minister.
Other members of the delegation include Balochistan Government Ministers Sardar Ghulam Mustafa Khan Tareen, as well as Members of Parliament Mrs. Ruquiya Saeed, Mrs. Samina Khan, Ms. Arifa Siddiqui, Mrs. Spozmi Achakzai and Mir Amir Rind.
