Patient plans his own abduction from hospital in Sri Lanka

Sept 08, Colombo: Sri Lanka police have uncovered the truth behind Wednesday’s abduction of an alleged mental patient from a Colombo private hospital by an armed group.

According to the police, the abductee, who was a lawyer, has planned his own abduction and had hired a private security firm to stage the drama.

The abducted lawyer was a mental patient undergoing treatment at the Navaloka private hospital in Colombo. He was reportedly abducted by a group of three armed persons.

It has been revealed that the lawyer who had a family dispute had been admitted to the hospital by his family on the ground he had a mental illness.

The owner of a private security firm ‘abducted’ the lawyer after threatening the hospital staff, damaging property and injuring a security guard.

Police arrested the lawyer and the persons who conducted the abduction and they are to be produced in court today.
