Private company to develop the Sri Lanka’s renewable energy industry

Jan 04, Colombo: Sri Lanka Minister of Power and Energy Champika Ranawaka today opened the office of the Sri Lanka Energies Private Limited, a subsidiary of Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) in Colombo.

Sri Lanka Energies Private Limited is assigned to work towards developing the country’s renewable energy industry.

It will work with the government and the private sector to increase renewable energy production in the country.

The company is to undertake redevelopment of 130 mini-hydro projects which are either underdeveloped or have been abandoned due to various reasons. They have the capacity to generate 250 MW of electricity.
