Aug 30, Colombo: Sri Lanka’s ruling United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) mayoral candidate for Colombo Municipal Council Milinda Moragoda plans to launch his policy manifesto this week.
He has told the state-owned The Dinamina newspaper that he would not only utilize the tax income and the grants from the Provincial Council but also seek foreign assistance to develop the city.
The former Minister is also to reveal his plans to develop city infrastructure. He says that the 47 sports grounds will be improved and the sports clubs will be assisted.
The Mayor candidate also spoke of the trolley bus service that was available in city in the past and said that an advanced system of transport would be re-launched to ease transport in the city.
Moragoda said he would fully support the city beautification plans of the Defense Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. He also promised that the residents linked to city economy would not be shifted out of the city.
