Senior Sri Lankan Minister threatened by ruling party local government member

Apr 24, Colombo: A senior Sri Lankan minister has complained to the police of being threatened by a local government member of the ruling party and his supporters.

Senior Minister of Rural Affairs, Athauda Seneviratne has complained that the ruling United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) member of the Mawanella Pradeshiya Sabha and his supporters have threatened on him several occasions.

Seneviratne has told the media that the member has been angry over the decision to appoint another UPFA member as the Vice Chairman of the Mawanella Pradeshiya Sabha.

However, following the complaint, the police have arrested the accused Pradeshiya Sabha member and his supporters.
