Sri Lanka cabinet rejects Education Minister’s request for wrong appointments

May 04, Colombo: Sri Lanka Cabinet of Ministers has rejected a request from the Ministry of Education to make 700 acting officials as Grade 3 officers of the Sri Lanka Education Administrative Service.

The Minister of Education Bandula Gunawardhana submitted the cabinet paper in this regard.

The cabinet subcommittee appointed in this regard has pointed out that the Ministry of Education has already called for applications for a competitive examination to recruit Grade 3 officers for the Sri Lanka Education Administrative Service.

The subcommittee has also pointed out that if the acting officials are made permanent, it will be against the minutes of the Sri Lanka Education Administrative Service and it will also be a wrong example.
