Sri Lanka clinches the T20 series 2-0 with six-wicket haul from Mendis

Aug 08, Colombo: Sri Lanka pulled off a thrilling win against Australia in the second T20 match by 8 runs to clinch the two-match series in Pallekele International Stadium in Kandy today.

Sri Lanka’s Captain Tillakaratne Dilshan won the toss and chose to bat first against Australia but the Australians chiefly dismissed the opening batsman who scored a century in the first match on Saturday for 4. His partner Mahela Jayewardene revived the hosts with 86 before getting caught by David hussy.

Australia’s John Hastings and Bret Lee took 3 wickets each restricting Sri Lanka to a modest 157.

In reply Ajantha Mendis who was brought in for the second match mauled the Australian team taking six wickets to secure a thrilling win for Sri Lanka limiting the visitors to 149. Ajantha Mendis was the man-of-the-match.
