Sri Lanka Education Ministry says withdrawal of academics would not affect A/Level evaluations

June 17, Colombo: The Education Ministry of Sri Lanka says that the withdrawal of university academics from the evaluation of Advanced Level examination papers this year will not affect the grading of the test.

Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena has told a press conference that 30,000 teachers have already been selected to evaluate the A/Level answer scripts.

Gunawardena has said there would not be any delays in evaluating the A/Level papers and the release of results.

The 2011 A/Level examination is to commence on August 8.

A teacher trade union affiliated with the Marxist party has announced its withdrawal from the evaluation process in support of the university lecturers who have withdrawn from the process demanding a salary increase.
