630 million rupees to provide free text books for schools in Lanka

Sept 13, Colombo: Sri Lanka Ministry of Education says The government has spent 630 million rupees to provide 6.5 million school text books for 2012 free to the students,

The Ministry has added that delivering free text books for year 2012 to schools will begin on September 15.

The free text books program includes 437 book categories that are distributed to students from Grades 1 to 13.

The Ministry expects to deliver the books before December 16 for the students to begin using them from the beginning of next year.

Also, 514 types of teacher instruction manuals are to be distributed with free school text books.
