Sri Lanka government to sue a wheat flour company

Apr 18, Colombo: The Chairman of Sri Lanka Consumer Affairs Authority Rumi Marzook says that the Authority will sue the Serendib Company for increasing the price of wheat flour.

The case against the company is to be filed today, he said, adding that the Serendib Company had not applied for a price increase in line with the rules and regulations pertaining essential food commodities.

The official said that the company had increased price of wheat flour without the due permission of the Sri Lanka Consumer Affairs Authority.

Sri Lanka Bakery Owners’ Association says that the price of wheat flour has been increased by Rs. 3 per kilo and the price of bakery products will also go up in due course.
