Sri Lanka national exam results blunder due to a computer error

Dec 29, Colombo: Education Minister of Sri Lanka Bandula Gunawardena today said there would not be any re-marking of GCE Advanced Level examination papers since the blunder was caused due to a computer error.

Gunawardena told a press conference that President Mahinda Rajapaksa has appointed a special committee to probe the controversy surrounding the A/Level results.

The committee is expected to identify the cause of the whole controversy and make recommendations. It will address the issues raised by the students and parents.

According to the Minister, there was no need to cancel the examination results since there has not been any errors reported in the Z score required to enter university.

However, the observers say the public has lost confidence in the Education Department and the Minister.
