Sri Lanka plans event on country’s youth activities at UN General Assembly

Sept 09, Colombo: Sri Lanka is planning to hold an event on youth activities on the side lines of the United Nations General Assembly to be commenced later this month in New York.

Sri Lanka’s Minister of Youth Affairs and Skills Development will host Dallas Alahapperuma has proposed to organize a side event under the theme “Young People in Development Agenda” concurrently with the 65th Meeting of the United Nations General Assembly scheduled to be held on September 22nd.

The event intends to draw attention of the international community to the World Youth Conference Sri Lanka will be hosting in 2014.

It aims to create awareness among various nations on the youth activities of Sri Lanka and to create opportunities to share experience and knowledge on global youth activities, the government says.

The Cabinet of Ministers has already granted approval for the project.
