Sri Lanka Police arrest and release five persons including former editor of JVP newspaper

Sept 30, Colombo: Sri Lanka Police have arrested five persons including a former editor of the Marxist party Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) newspaper, Lanka, along with over 20,000 copies of the newspaper last night.

The police have made the arrest since the newspaper was being printed by an editor who has been suspended from the newspaper without the approval of the newspaper’s publisher.

The police have said that the five suspects have been released on bail.

The arrests were made while the newspaper was being printed at the press of a national weekly newspaper located in Ratmalana. The police have seized all the equipment used for printing.

The police said that further investigations are being carried out into the matter.
