Sri Lanka President holds discussions to resolve fishing community issues

Mar 01, Colombo: Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa Thursday has decided to meet with the representatives of fishing organizations in Negombo and Chilaw to solve problems faced by the fishing community in the two districts.

The President arrived at this decision when he met with the Archbishop Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith and the catholic leaders from the two districts on Thursday at the Temple Trees.

Accordingly, the President will meet with the fishing community representatives of Chilaw and Negombo on Friday to discuss their grievances and offer possible solutions.

Bishop of Chilaw Velence Mendis, Rev Patrick Perera, Rev. Christos Kurukulasuriya and Rev. Lester Nonis together with Ministers Milroy Fernando Basil Rajapaksa, Rajitha Senaratne, Felix Perera, Neomal Perera, Sarath Kumara Gunaratne and Parliamentarian Dr Sudharsani Fernandopulle were also present at the discussion.
