Sri Lanka President meets former US President Bill Clinton

Sept 20, New York: Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa who is in New York to attend the 66th session of the United Nations General Assembly met the former President of the United States Bill Clinton at the Clinton Global Initiative 2011 Annual Meeting in New York Tuesday.

The Sri Lankan President is seen here receiving a warm welcome from President Clinton at the event.


The Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting is an invitation-only event held in September in New York City for heads of state, chief executives of companies, directors of major nonprofits, and other global leaders.

In today’s plenary session, hosted by Clinton and co-chaired by President of Mexico Felipe Caldern and South African President Jacob Zuma, leaders from around the world shared their effective strategies for addressing the global climate challenge in the coming years.
