Sri Lanka President returns with sacred hair relic

Sri Lanka’s President Mahinda Rajapakse has returned to the country this Morning after concluding the successful 3 day official visit to Bangladesh.

“The President has arrived with a sacred hair relic of Lord Buddha. The sacred relics will be deposited at the Gangaramaya Temple in Colombo at 6.00 PM today. ”, Spokesman of the president media office said.

The sources also revealed that the plans are underway for a public exposition of the Buddha’s hair relic to commemorate the 2600th anniversary of the Buddha’s Enlightenment that falls in May 2011.

During his visit, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh signed five memoranda of understanding on agriculture, education, livestock, information, and commerce cooperation.

The signing was followed discussions between President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The President also had cordial discussions with Bangladeshi President, opposition leader and many high level diplomats.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa on his visit to Bangladesh met the Business Communities both in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in Bangladesh yesterday (19) at Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka.

First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa, Sri Lanka External Minister Prof. G.L. Pieris, Bangladesh External Minister Deepu Moni, Finance Minister Abul Maal, Industries Minister Dilip Baruva were also present.
