Sri Lanka to battle England today for semi-final slot

Mar 26, Colombo: Sri Lanka will be facing the injury-marred England team in the last do-or-die quarter-final with home advantage at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

The match will be starting at 2:30 p.m. local time.

Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara Friday said the ace spinner Muttiah Muralitharan has recovered from his hamstring injury sustained during the match with New Zealand last week and will challenge the injury-ridden England team.

Three England players, Kevin Pietersen, Ajmal Shahzad and Stuart Broad pulled out from the World Cup due to injuries while all-rounder Michael Yardy returned to the UK on Thursday due to depression.

The winner of today’s quarter-final will meet New Zealand in the first semi-final at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on March 29.
