Sri Lankan External Affairs Minister to visit China

May 20, Colombo: Sri Lanka’s External Affairs Minister Prof. G. L.Peiris is scheduled to visit China on and official visit next week.

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Jiang Yu at a regular press conference Thursday announced that Minister Peiris will pay a working visit to China from May 23 to May 24 at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi.

Minister Peiris visited India from 15-17 May, 2011 and held discussions with Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, his counterpart S. M. Krishna, and National Security Advisor Shivshankar Menon.

Sri Lanka is seeking support from her powerful allies, India and China to counter the war crime allegations brought by the UN Expert Panel.
