Sri Lankan government permits foreign company to operate boat service on Diyawanna Oya

Apr 10, Colombo: Sri Lanka’s Deputy Economic Development Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena has said that a foreign company will be given the rights to operate a boat service on the Diyawanna Oya.

A similar service is to also to commence on the Beira Lake.

Abeywardena has said that the boat service would be granted permission to commence once the dredging work currently being carried out in the area is completed.

Abeywardena has said that foreign companies would invest an estimated US$ 523 million in the country’s tourism industry.

According to him, the foreign investments in the industry include US$ 390 million invested by the Shangri La Group of Hong Kong.
