Sri Lankan government to open a super market complex in Colombo

July 08, Colombo: The Sri Lankan government is considering opening a super market complex in the capital city of Colombo.

Chief Government Whip and Minister Dinesh Gunawardena has said that the government was looking to build a super market complex on a state land on Jawatte Road in Colombo 5. The land previously housed a Salu Sala outlet.

Gunawardena has added that the entire land along that road, till Thimbirigasyaya belonged to the Mahaweli Ministry.

According to Gunawardena, 170 employees who were working at Salu Sala and retrenched in 2009 have been re-instated and are currently engaged in carrying out a specific task.
