June 09, Colombo: Sri Lanka’s major opposition United National Party (UNP) and the affiliated trade unions will hold a protest demonstration today at 3 pm in front of the Maradana Railway Station in Colombo.

The Opposition and UNP leader Ranil Wickremasinghe is to lead the protest campaign against the government, party sources say.

The theme of the UNP protest is ‘Let us rise against the repressive acts of the government,’ the party says.

UNP says that the protest demonstrations that would be launched from Colombo today would be held island wide in the coming weeks.
