Sri Lankan trade delegation leaves for Vietnam

Nov 12, Colombo: A Sri Lankan trade delegation will leave for Vietnam today on an invitation extended by the Vietnamese trade delegation that visited the country recently along with the Vietnam President.

The Sri Lankan delegation, led by the Chairman of the National Gem and Jewellery Authority Rohan Daluwatta, comprises 18 businessmen from the Sri Lanka National Chamber of Commerce and members from the Export Development Board of Sri Lanka, the state-run radio SLBC reported.

During the six-day visit arranged by the Sri Lankan Ambassador in Vietnam Dr. Ivon Samarasinghe, the delegation is expected to meet the Vietnam President and high ranking businessmen in the country.

The Vietnam President, Truong Tan Sang and a 60-member high-powered business delegation arrived in Sri Lanka last month for a three-day visit.

The Sri Lankan government currently exports rubber products, gems and jewellery to Vietnam and expects to expand the exports further.
