Sri Lanka’s food security committee discuss increasing global fuel and milk powder prices

Apr 28, Colombo: The subcommittee on Food Protection and Cost of Living headed by President Mahinda Rajapaksa has discussed the increasing world market prices of fuel and milk powder.

Rajapaksa has informed the ministers in the committee to formulate a strategy to prevent an increase in the local market prices.

Local media report stated that Ministers Johnston Fernando, Nimal Siripala De Silva, Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, C.B. Ratnayake, Rajitha Senarathna, Deputy Minister Geethanjana Gunawardena, and Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga had attended the meeting at Temple Trees.

Meanwhile, Fisheries Minister Rajitha Senarathna had said the fish production had increased to 4,000 metric tons during the first three months when compared with the fish production during the same period last year.
