Sri Lanka’s former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka to join UNP

Dec 28, Colombo: A local radio station of Sri Lanka reported quoting reliable sources that Democratic National alliance (DNA) leader and former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka would join the United National Party (UNP) soon.

The Opposition leader Ranil Wickremasinghe has told a group of party MPs recently about Fonseka’s decision that discussed during a recent meeting of the duo at Welikada prison, the radio Hiru FM further reported.

DNA MP Jayantha Ketagoda, who replaced the jailed presidential candidate in the parliament is also slated to join the UNP and he is to be appointed the co-organizer of Kaduwela electorate, said the radio.
