Sri Lanka’s Health Ministry to produce more drugs locally

Apr 16, Colombo: Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Health has decided to increase the number of drugs manufactured by the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation.

By increasing the varieties of drugs manufactured by the Corporation, the Ministry expects to reduce the import of drugs to the country.

According to the Health Ministry, the Corporation currently produces 47 varieties of drugs. The Ministry has decided to increase the number of varieties to 200.

The Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval to the Health Ministry proposal to increase the number of varieties of drugs produced locally.

The Corporation is to be provided with the necessary equipment, other facilities, and financial provisions in order to increase its production range.
