Tariff concessions remain, says Sri Lanka Minister of Power and Energy

Dec 17, Colombo: Sri Lanka Minister of Power and Energy Patali Champika Ranawaka denied media reports that the government would remove the concessionary tariff granted to the users of electricity at less than 90 units per month rate.

Participating in the debate on the expenditure heading of the Ministry of Power and Energy, the Minister said that the electricity tariff of these users remain same since 2008.

He denied reports that the cut off for the concessionary tariff would be reduced to 30 units from 90 units.

He further pointed out that 78% of the electricity consumers use less than 90 units per month.
