US Assistant Secretary Blake arrives in Sri Lanka

Sept 12, Colombo: The United States Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Robert O. Blake, Jr. has arrived in Colombo this morning, commencing his five-day visit to Sri Lanka and India, the government media unit said.

During his visit to Sri Lanka, Blake is expected to meet with government officials, civil society representatives, university students and political leaders.

The U. S. State Department has said that one of the purposes of Assistant Secretary Blake’s visit will be to discuss the report of Sri Lanka’s investigative body, Lessons Learnt and reconciliation Commission (LLRC) with the government officials.

In India, Assistant Secretary Blake will meet with Government of India interlocutors and have internal consultations with staff at U.S. Embassy New Delhi, the State Department said.
