US Embassy in Sri Lanka holds presentations on U.S. Diversity Visa Lottery Program 2013

Sept 22, Colombo: The Immigrant Visa section of the American Embassy in Colombo will be holding a series of presentations across the country on the 2013 Diversity Visa Lottery Program.

The first of the series will be held at Kalutara tomorrow (23) at 4:30 pm, in the Kalutara District Secretariat New Auditorium.

The Embassy had earlier planned to hold presentation at Hambanthota, Matara, Galle, and Colombo but cancelled the Hambanthota and Galle programs. In lieu of those two the Embassy will hold presentations at Kalutara and Matara.

The presentation in Matara will be on September 24th 2011 at 10:00 am, at the Main Hall of YMBA and the one in Colombo will be held on October 13th 2011 at 5:30 pm, St. Paul’s Milagiriya Church Hall in Bambalapitiya.

During the presentations the officers from the American Embassy will explain the process of the program with translations. Participants will get free handouts with the important points of the program.

Similar presentations have been held in Anuradhapura, Kilinochchi, Jaffna, Batticaloa, Polonnaruwa and Trincomalee, the Embassy said.

The online registration period for the 2013 Diversity Visa Program (DV-2013) will run from Tuesday, October 4, 2011to Saturday, November 5, 2011.

For the 2013 lottery program the citizens of neighboring India, Pakistan and Bangladesh have become ineligible as those countries have maxed out their quota by sending a total of more than 50,000 immigrants to the U.S. in the previous five years.
