May 26, Colombo: Sri Lanka’s famous artist, linguist, and Sinhala nationalist Kalasuri Arisen Ahubudu passed away today after a brief illness. He was 91 years old.
Ahubudu’s remains were placed in a private hospital and the funeral arrangements are yet to be announced by the family.
Ahubudu was an activist of the Hela Havula, a language purist movement. He wrote many poems, stories and other books. He was a well-known dramatist of Sri Lanka. He has received several awards for his literary works including the title Kalasuri awarded by the government.
Ahubudu was famous as an astrologer and he gave names to many individuals and businesses including Litro Gas that was established recently after Shell Gas was acquired by state.
