With Chandimal’s century Sri Lanka thrashes England to lead ODI series

July 03, London: Sri Lanka took the lead of the NatWest Series 2-1 beating England by 6 wickets in the 3rd One-Day International (ODI) at Lord’s in London today.

After winning the toss England set Sri Lanka a modest total of 247 to chase with a slow 119 from England skipper Alastair Cook.

Lasith Malinga cheaply dismissal Craig Kieswetter for 3 and Suranga Lakmal claimed Jonathan Trott for 2. Malinga, Lakmal and Jeevan Mendis claimed two wickets each.

In reply an unbeaten century from Dinesh Chandimal and a 79 from Mahela Jayawardena before he fell to Jade Dernbach sealed the victory for Sri Lankans.

After losing the first ODI, Sri Lanka went onto level the series 1-1 winning the second at Headingley Friday with a ton from Mahela Jayawardena.

Sri Lanka will play the 4th ODI at Nottingham on July 06.
