July 13, Colombo: Sri Lankan government sources say that the salary issue of the university teachers will be resolved today at the cabinet meeting scheduled to be held this evening.
A cabinet paper is expected to be presented to the cabinet to increase the salaries of the university teachers, government sources say.
University teachers of Sri Lanka are in a trade union action for about two months disrupting the normal functioning of the academic activities.
A number of rounds of talks were held between the government and the Federation of University Teachers Associations to seek a solution to the problem.
Earlier, sources close to the Federation said the university teachers conditionally agreed to accept the salary increase proposed by the government in recent talks with senior government leaders and officials.
