best western logo:The world’s largest hotel chain Best Western International in partnership with local organization Elyon Hotels will open a 60-room Best Western Elyon Colombo Hotel on Baseline Road, Colombo.The hotel would be launched in three months time bringing the company’s world famous attributes of comfort, convenience and service excellence to the Sri Lankan Capital for the very first time.

Best Western’s Vice President of International Operations for Asia and the Middle East, Glenn de Souza speaking to media said, the recent economic boom following the end of three decades of war has created many opportunities for the development of the local tourism industry and the company is very excited to be partnered with Elyon Hotels and to expand the Best Western footprint in Sri Lanka as a part of its expansion plan in the Asian region.

“Driven by strong interest from India, China, the Middle East and Europe, international visitor arrivals to Sri Lanka have been growing exponentially in recent years, reaching one million for the first time in 2012. This is expected to reach 1.5 million visitors in 2014 and as an international hotelier, Best Western has a duty to provide to this soaring number of travelers with quality accommodation options,” said.

Commenting on this landmark agreement, Presantha Jayamaha, Chairman of Elyon Hotels said, “Today we are jointly celebrating this exciting new partnership with Best Western Hotel, one of the largest hotel chains in the world. We saw the need for a strong international brand that can service both mid and high end tourists coming to Sri Lanka.

Elyon Hotels will identify opportunities for new midscale and upscale

hotels across the country. These are likely to include locations in Colombo, or other key leisure and business destinations around Sri Lanka. The initial target for the next three years is to have four more hotels with a portfolio of approximately 400 rooms develop, which is then expected to rise to 700 rooms within five year.
